ICC Champions Trophy 2025 schedule
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is gearing up to host the ninth ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, featuring the top eight men’s national teams in One Day International (ODI) cricket. Pakistan will be the host for this exciting tournament, set to take place in February and March of 2025.
This event will follow the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and is the next major limited-overs competition on the calendar. It’s a special occasion for Pakistan, as it marks the first ICC event in the country since the 1996 World Cup. Pakistan will be defending their title, having won the Champions Trophy in 2017.
However, according to IANS, there’s some uncertainty about Team India’s participation due to ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. A source told IANS that the tournament location might be changed, and a hybrid format like the one used for the 2023 Asia Cup could be considered.
Teams
There will be eight teams competing and 15 matches will be conducted for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. These are the men’s national teams from One Day International (ODI) that are ranked highest, including Pakistan, the host country.
The classifications at the end of the group stage of the ICC ODI World Cup determined who qualified for the competition. The teams who are eligible for the Champions Trophy are listed below:
